Join us for this free program, featuring a presentation by Bradley Smith, Adjunct Professor of History at Alvernia University and Curator of the Ephrata Cloister.
Mr. Smith will discuss the impact and Legacy of the Muhlenberg family, from their 1742 arrival in Pennsylvania to the present day, and how they influenced the naming of Muhlenberg Township. He will also discuss Frederick A. Muhlenberg, the statesman, soldier, and architect who established the local architectural firm of Muhlenberg Greene.
Following the presentation, guests can view a display of artistic renderings in the Muhlenberg Art Gallery, located in the Township Building. This collection of hand-drawn works by Frederick Muhlenberg from the 1920s to the 1970s highlights several of his firm's best-known projects.
Boxed sets of limited-edition notecards featuring select architectural renderings by Muhlenberg will be available for purchase ($20), benefitting the Berks History Center.
